Sandals, Emerald Bay - Great Exuma, Bahamas December 2014

Well, there is a long title!

Thought I would share some photo's from our recent holiday...........

We flew from Heathrow to Nassau and connected onto George Town, Great Exuma.
The transfer time was really fast to our resort, Sandals Emerald Bay, where we were greeted with a lovely cold towel and refreshing drink.

Our room was fabulous..

The main pool area was stunning, we took this one as the sun was coming up one morning.

They have lots of cabanas around the edge of the pool which we were lucky enough to have each day, and mainly the same one.

Before we travelled Robert had found out about an excursion where you could swim with pigs - Yes, I did say Pigs! - and upon arrival were told to book early as they get very busy. I am so glad that we did!  Operated by Exuma Water Sports this was the most exhilarating trips ever!

I "borrowed" this photo from their website.

Heading towards one of the islands out came the pigs, swimming as fast as they could.........

We jumped in and fed them with Turkey Chipolatas.......

Then headed on land to see (and cuddle) the piglets.
Justin and his family take great care of them and bring fresh food and water each day, they have even built them a little pen.

Onwards around the Cays to another stop to feed grapes to Iguanas - Robert thought there would be one or two in a cage owned by someone but...........
there was a beach full - again all come running as we approached....

The tour was a half day and we did lots of other exciting and adventurous things but I wouldn't want to spoil it for others who may go and, a waterproof camera would have been a very good idea.

I have to admit that we were quite boring really apart from that and didn't do other excursions. There were a few on offer but as the Islands are not commercialised like other Caribbean destinations, were not really appealing. We met a couple who were getting married on the resort and went to George Town (the capital) to do the paperwork who said that it was very small with not a lot to see.

The weather was another factor as we were hit by the tail end of some nasty storms which came across the southern states of America bringing windy and sometimes showery conditions.
The Ocean Safari trip was cancelled quite often due to this so we were lucky to have booked to go early on during our holiday.

Emerald Bay has he most amazing, long beach with another resort at one end - Grand Isle resort and spa - but it would never be crowded.

The staff were excellent and couldn't do enough to make you feel welcome, we were treated to an Anniversary cake one evening.............

And the freshest coconuts ever after breakfast one morning.

It was a fabulous two weeks away from home and would I go back?
At the drop of a hat!

Watch out for Desk Teds photo's - he came too!
