Gifts for the Girls 2013

We have just returned from our Blossom Babes Debden weekend.

These are the gifts I made this year.

Inspired by a photo on Pinterest, I created these scissor cases.

I created a pattern which incorporated 3 compartments, and added a set of scissors. They are fastened with a popper and topped with a Blossom (for Blossoms!) and an individual button.

I hope they liked them :)

A 21st for Louise

Another request from a work colleague, a 21st Birthday card for her daughter, pink but not too girly :)

I used papers recently purchased from The Glitter Pot and an 8x8 scalloped edge card (cwc).

The numbers were cut with my templates as the cricut was burried under things to take to Debden :(

I added some ribbon and layered 2 bows on the edge the created a tag for her mam in rub-ons. A few layered butterflies and gems were added.

Happy Birthday Louise - hope you have a lovely day :)

And in the Blue corner.....

Last week/weekend saw a mamoth bake off at home, this is one of the results.

Firstly a poorly oven :(
As the first cake was about to be placed in, the handle decided it had had enough and broke.
Sadly it could not be fixed as the material had deteriorated and split and the other side would not come off - making the task difficult to say the least!

A good opportunity to buy a new one?
Again, a no! Robert went online and ordered a new part - well a girl can dream!

Anyhow, I digressed.
You may recall that at the beginning of March, my lovely friend Tracey's daughter was 18.
I made Emma a cake from a photo she showed me - all pink and zebra striped, see here.

Well, Tracey's sister's son was 18 on Sunday 14th so I was asked to make a similar version in blue's with a boxing glove on it.

The cake is an 10" and 6" chocolate sponge sandwiched with chocolate orange buttercream.
I covered the bottom one with blue fondant and cut out white stars which I glittered with edible glitter and Cranbury vodka - yes vodka - don't remember why but I was told it was the best thing to use???
The next layer is was covered with white and then placed onto the lower one centrally.
I added some 18's cut with blue fondant and some more stars.

I then piped stars (although they sank a little) around the base of both layers, with royal icing.
Little dots of the same were pipe to join the stars.

I piped a ring of dots on the top of the cake and then set about creating a glove.
This was made with red fondant and moulded by hand.
I cut a wedge out of the top and poked some holes with a skewer then placed "sausages" of black fondant across to form the laces.

Phew! Can't tell you how pleased I was to have finished this one!

Hope you had super day Archie - Happy Birthday

Bling it on - April Card Challenge at Scrapology

This months challenge has been set by our lovely DT member Sue.

She said - As Diamonds are Aprils birthstone - lets use bling!
Not a hard challenge I'm sure.

For some reason, it screamed "Shoes" at me so this is what I made!

The shoe is a stamp by Chloe which I have stamped several times onto patterned papers.
The heel was covered with black glitter and also the platform.
The outside is white glitter cardstock which I have edged with black stickles.

I added a metal floral embellishment to the front with a punched flower and a black glittered brad.

Pop on over to Scrapology to see the other DT cards and take part in the challenge.

Another lovely day - layout this time...

Our lovely Anita taught the following page at the Cardinal Colours Spring Weekend crop and although I didn't do the class at the time, managed to do so at our monthly crop instead.

Using striking papers from the Bo Bunny Serenade rage, this is my version.

The photograph is of Megan, my great niece, modelling some personallised pajamas I got her for Christmas 2010.

Lots of flowers were cut from the pages, shaped and added, those below with stickles in the centres.

These ones I scrunched, layered and added seed beads with glossy accents.

I chose to cut a trail of dragonflies for mine which I shaped and covered their bodies with glossy accents.

Above/behind the photograph is a panel which slides out for additional journalling or another photo.

This is Anita's beautiful original page which was threaded and beaded too.

Thanks Anita for a lovely class - I really enjoyed making it :)

A lovely day for.......

Unwinding....
Having had a very hectic day yesterday (post to follow) and a busy week, I had the perfect wind down day.

Firstly, following a little lay-in, the lovely Nicola came to manicure my nails.
I had been admiring this colour for a while, it's called Turquoise Ocean by Bio Sculpture.
Several thin layers of clear and coloured gels create this lovely highly polished finish which lasts for at least 3 weeks, would be longer but for nail growth.

Then an afternoon with my man - Tom Cruise - and my husband of course :)
An awesome film with many twists and turns, I could have immediately watched it from the start again and again - totally addictive.

More to share later, hope you have all had a lovely weekend.

Blooms and Butterflies

I was asked to make a card for my colleagues Mum at work.
She wanted something pink and cream with flowers, butterflies and sparkles.
I started with a CWC 8x8" scalloped card and some papers from my collection.

I added some torn tissue from Tim Holtz range and a cream ribbon with a bow.
I cut a layered flower with Tattered Florals die and fastened with a jewel brad.

A few mulberry roses were tinted with chalk ink and added and a couple of extra blooms.
Double butterflies were punch from a Martha Stewart Monarch butterfly and rolled tissue paper added to the centres.

A stampin' Up punch was used for the bunting which was joined with a thin ribbon which was looped and knotted. I added a couple of tiny butterflies with liquid pearls centres.
The letters are rub-ons.

I cut a bird cage - another Tim Holtz die and added with the bird.

Random pearls and stickles added the bling.

Hope your Mum has a lovely birthday Sam :)

Thanks for looking.

80 years young.

Lynn taught this lovely class at Cardinal Colours Spring Crop.
I used a photo of Mum and Dad taken at his 80th birthday party - a while back now.

I cut out the baskets from the paper and added them next to the photo.

I had a few of the ribbon roses over so I added them to the flower centres.
The flowers were cut with the Tim Holtz tattered floral strip, the leaves were punched.

There were some lovely glass beads which we stuck to the lace edging.

The papers are by Websters and below is Lynn's original.

Thanks for a lovely class Lynn.

Card Class by Sandra Dry

At the recent Cardinal Colours weekend crop, I was lucky to take part in some classes too.
These are the lovely colourful cards I made with Sandra Dry.

My chosen method of colouring was my usual Copics :)

This first one has an acetate front cover.
We used glimmer mists to spritz all of the card blanks too.

This next one is an easel card but it has an acetate scalloped circle to which a bow and some hearts are attached. Unfortunately its not too clear in the photo.

The next one is a clever fold to create a point at the bottom front of the card.
This was covered with patterned paper and some die-cut corners added.

The girl is attached to a scalloped square which sits inside the fold as below.

The last one - which I made first?? - uses paper piecing on the dress, shoes and bows which were spritzed then cut out.

I bought a second set too so I can have another play so watch this space :)

Thanks Sandra for a lovely class.

3 are 21!

Lynn's triplets celebrated their 21st birthdays at the weekend.
Here are the cards I made for them....

Andrews card is a 6x6 basic with Bo Bunny - Back to Basics - papers.
The background has been stamped with flitter glue and a crackle stamp then gilding flakes rubbed in.
First time I have used them and boy, do they make a mess!
I cut the 21 using templates and edged them with black and white pens in a -...-...- pattern.

The name was added with some rub-ons, then a few silver candi and natural raffia added.

Emilys card is a DL size used landscape.
The papers are MME, Memorable Note, range from a recent trip to the Glitter Pot.
The image is a Kanban stamp which was coloured with Copics and sparkled with MS fine glitter.

I created some bunting with an SU punch and added "21" and some flowers.

Here is a close up of the girl :)

Catherine's card uses the same papers as Emilys.
The card is again DL which fits the new Prima stamp (Crafts-u-love) which was another recent purchase.
I paper pieced the clothes onto the girl which was coloured with Copics.

I punched the scallop and circle and added her name with rub-ons again and added a punched flower with button centre.

I hope they all had a lovely birthday!
