Christmas in July and a Silent Auction

Well, I actually managed to sit down this afternoon and complete a card project we started at Carolyn's 1 day retreat earlier this month.
The project was to make 6 cards the same and decorate the envelopes.
I decided to take it one step further and created a gift box to house them as below.

The box opens to reveal the cards all created with Stampin' Up products.

So, onto the auction - I thought it might be a nice idea to auction them off and have nominated
Dementia UK to be my charity of choice for obvious reasons.
I would love it if you would like to take part and will give 50% of all proceeds to the charity - who knows, if this is a success, there could be more.

This is a very good cause I'm sure you'll agree.
Should you wish to take part, e-mail me your bid - closing date 20th August 2011.
Postage included within the UK only.

Happy Birthday Alan

Happy Birthday Alan!
This is the card I made for him using my "never too old" CD.
It has great images on it and you can print decoupage sheets as below.

I opted for A5 size but cut and mounted onto another card to create a small border.

I used 3d foam for definition.
Hope you have a lovely day Alan.

It's very frustrating at the moment as I have been playing with lots of lovely new things but can't share as they are future projects at Scrapology!
Why not hop on over and see the latest page and card challenges - there is still time to enter and some fantastic prizes on offer!

Kevin is 30!

My friend Claire asked me to make her husband a 30th birthday card.
She said he likes Oasis and suggested red for Charlton FC.
I printed the album covers from the internet and mounted them on black and red cardstock, some small and
one approx 5x5". I used an AOL CD as a base and layered the pictures on and around.
The larger one was (Whats the story) Morning Glory but I adapted it to read Kevin is 30! on a banner.

The card is 8x8" and I created an easel shape.
The papers are from Basic Grey - Life of the Party.

The base of the easel uses the same papers which features tape measures, I cut a strip which included the number 30 and added some studded back dots to highlight.
On reflection, its quite ironic that the next milestone, 40, is just above!

I hope they like it and would like to wish Kevin a very Happy 31st Birthday!

Scrapology July Card Challenge - Anything but Square....

Mid month again so time for a new card challenge on Scrapology.
Set by S-J of Little Musings fame, the challenge is to make a card any shape but square.
I used a Friday Freebie below printed @ A5 size. I cut two and joined together behind the head.
Coloured with Copics - deliberately patchy! - I then stitched buttons and added stickles.
A little ribbon collar with brad was added around the neck.

You can see below a close up of the stitched buttons and stickles

I also created the card below for Lynn's birthday back in May.
See here for the details

Hop over to Scrapology to see what the DT have made and take part in the challenge.
Closing date is the 15th August and theres a fab prize for the winner.

Thanks for looking.

I got inky!

I collected my latest order from Carolyn on Saturday and made the following card with the new stamps.
They are from the Plane & Simple/Sense of Time collections.
I used a 6x6" card and created a navy mat, stamped some of the images on a white square in Almost Navy and Early Espresso inks. The main image was stamped onto a rectangle, the edges inked with a Tim Holtz blending tool, and matted with the same Navy card.

I stamped the extra clock dial in Navy and added with 3d foam pads for dimension.

The greeting and the main image were also raised with 3d pads.
It's not my usual style but I was quite pleased with the results, it's for my brothers birthday later this month so I hope he likes it too.

Origami Tree

Yesterday, Lynn & I went to Carolyn's Stamping Up day retreat to create some Christmas goodies.
One of the things we made was this origami tree with SU Christmas papers.

It even folds flat so would make a lovely Christmas card for someone - think a few instructions would be necessary in the envelope too though :)

Carolyn gave us the You Tube link where she found it - see below for a step by step.
There is also a link at the top for the new "no glue" version which I shall check out soon too.

We made quite an array of things which I will share as I finish them.
Thanks Carolyn for another lovely day!

M is for Masks - Scrapology July Challenge

This months challenge on the Scrapology blog used a sketch by Liz Qualman.

We decided to use Masks and Cosmic Shimmer Mists to create the background.
I used white bazzill and layed the mask towards the top left corner then spritzed with Aqua Lagoon, and Blue Lime, then moved it lower and spritzed more Blue Lime and some Rich Gold which produced a less defined masked area.

I used Bo Bunny Ad-Lib papers - Wild Thing, Pebbles, Vertigo & Stripe which are double sided.
I cut some strips approx 5cm wide and 21cm/27cm long which I placed on the right.
A wavy line from the stripe page was cut and placed horizontally.

My photograph was divided into 5cm squares and I used paper strips for the journalling.
My title was cut with Ashlyn's Alphabet and covered with glossy accents.

Below is a close up of the masked area.

I had purchased these stamps which co-ordinated with the papers and used the flowers to stamp onto
the patterned papers.
The large flower was cut with the extra large retro flower punch.
I stamped the centres of the "rose" type flower and cut them out, used an embossing tool to create dimension and layered them up.

Stickles were added to the centres

This is the original sketch.

Items available from Cardinal Colours.
