Page Kit from the Big Event

While at the Big Event in Suffolk with Lynn in November I bought the following kit:

I used it to make the following page for Terrie's 50th Birthday which is the last one now. although I forgot to give it to her on Monday when I saw her!!

Following close up of the flowers to which I added some stickles and thread on the buttons.

There was a half sheet of butterflies too which I cut out and stickled as below.

Bad Blogger - Trying to catch up

A while back I blogged about Sue's Birthday, this is the card I made her.
I used Kraftin Kimmies Jayne stamp coloured with Copics and the dress stamped and cut from patterned paper. The background is from a Bo Bunny Peacock Lane sentiment sheet.
Letters cut with Cricut and glittered with stickles.

Below are some of the cards made for friends this year - did not manage to photograph them all.

Based on a similar theme, they were stamped with Stamping Bella's Meowy Cats and coloured with Copics.
The papers are from a CWC Christmas kit I bought a while back, although I don't think they are very Christmassy at all. Below is a close up of the image. I coloured them to match my new cats Ariel and George.

How I made my December Challenge page.

I wanted to keep it fairly simple so I started with a piece of Lime Green Bazzill.
The size of the rectangles was determined by the photographs I had printed which were approx 2.5 x 3.5".
I had already decided to make it a double page so cut 8 pieces of patterned paper the same size as the photos, rounded the corners and inked all edges.
I cut a strip approx 2x10" and added it to the lower right hand side then added a futher strip @ 1" of a different paper with a punched edge (Martha Stewart) below. I added a ribbon over the join with a faux tie to finish.

The same detail was reversed for the 2nd page.

I arranged the rectangles evenly on the top of the page overlapping the strip of patterned paper and alternating pattern and photo.
At this point the page was sitting on my pink cutting mat and Anita commented that she liked the pink border.
Hmmmm, I thought, so trimmed the lime bazzill and added a pink piece behind - thanks for the inspiration Anita.
I used embellishments from my stash to decorate the patterned rectangles or cut and decoupaged areas from the original design.

A broken line was added between the rectangles using a fine liner for definition.
The titles were cut with the Cricut Don Juan Cartridge and shadowed with the pink from the border.

You still have time to enter this challenge, pop over to the Scrapology Blog to see the DT's pages.

Happy Birthday to Sue

On Saturday we had our monthly crop at Jill's - Cardinal Colours

Sue had a special birthday to celebrate (shhh) and can been seen below being presented with beautiful cup cakes made by Anita.

They were very yummy!

Hope you had a lovely birthday Sue.

Apologies for the belated blog, I'll be back with a photo of the card I made for her soon along with the lovely cards and presents we all exchanged.

Beloved by Karen Burniston

Back in September I helped out at the Cardinal Colours Retreat.
There were many classes to take and this one by Karen Burniston really attracted me.
Unfortunately I didn't have time to take the class but Jill still has some kits available click here for details.

This is the double page spread.

The kit is jammed with materials and well worth the money, it also includes a step-by-step DVD of how to make it.

The first page is relatively simple and is completed later in the course of events.

The page below is shown closed here. You can see the magnet on the bottom right of my page as I waited to put it into the album first before adding the butterfly closure.

Below is the page opened.

The butterfly below pops up as you open the page.

A close-up of the butterfly.

I have to admit that I was concerned that this would be very hard but am pleased to say that I made it in a snowbound afternoon.

JYC2010 - 4th December

The topic for this entry is your dream christmas.
As I said on day one, I find it very hard to enjoy Christmas these days due to "circumstances" so this is a hard one to do.
I think if I was completely honest, I would love to just get on a plane and go somewhere hot and forget all about it.

This is the Don CeSar, St Pete Beach, Florida, where we got married 10 years ago.

That would do for me......big sigh.....

However, as that is not going to happen, the best I can hope for is to cook a nice dinner and keep everyone happy this year.

The Big Event - Last Class.

The last class of the day was designed and taught by Lou Collins from Papermaze.

There was a lot of cutting out for this one and making the paper flowers etc.

I was happy with the results and quite surprised that I managed to get all the letters and titles from one sheet of letter stickers.

Thanks ladies for organising such a fun day.

The Big Event - More LO's

This is the 2nd class page I made at the Big Event Last weekend.
Created by Wendy McKee who unfortunately could not be there.

Wendy is also the creator of the page we have scraplifted for Scrapology's December challenge.
Pop on over to have a look.

Detail in the centre...

I purchased some extra papers to create another matching page for George.

Here are the two together.

JYC2010 - 3rd December

December 3rd - Topic of Christmas cards.

Bit of a coincidence really as we received our first card on this date :)

I have been very bad for the past few years and not sent as many as I have received, so this year I will try to rectify that.

I will probably buy some cards but others for special friends I have made (can't share as yet - watch this space).

Below are photographs of 2 boxes of cards I have made ready to sell - bit late off the block again though lol!

JYC 2010 - 2nd December - The Weather

Day Two - The Weather!

Mmmmm, a lot could be said at this point, refer to my previous entry, but, I'm being positive here
(she smiles) so.....I had the week off work as leave so luckily did not have to face public transport disruption etc. But I have had a nasty bought of flu too.

The picure below summed up my mood, I love the way the sky is so dramatic against the outline of the branches.

So, I made a LO of my attempt at making a snow angel.

Papers are BG Eskimo Kisses.

I used the BG Alpha stickers for my title then added glossy accents.
There are loads of tiny pink snowflakes around the aperture which are the centres from the MS PATP snowflake punch set with stickle centres. The border is also a MS punch.
The large snowflakes were cut with the punch below which became my latest casualty :(

Only day 2 and I can see why I don't like Christmas :(

JYC 2010 - December 1st - Playing catch-up

This year I have decided to follow Shimelle's Journal Your Christmas.
As I only joined yesterday, I have to play catch-up first.

Day 1 - 1st of December is to create a manifest.

Christmas is a time of year that I don't find easy at present.
Lots of things add up to make me feel unable to enjoy the season, so, with JYC in mind, I am going to make a conscious effort this year and see what happens - dons happy face :)

The Big Event

Last weekend , Lynn kindly invited me up to Suffolk to join her for the first Your Creations - The Big Event.
It was held in Henley Community Centre and organised by Anna Parker.
Two shops had stalls for the day PaperMaze and Crafts and Candelight.
Desk Ted joined us in the main hall.

This is the kit we could purchase to complete the classes and where necessary buy extra bits.
The papers are 'Everybody Loves Christmas' from Echo Park.

There were classes thoughout the day, we didn't do the first two as they were for beginners and so I used the time to complete my Scrapology January layout which I have to keep under wraps for the time being :)

After lunch we attended a class by Karen Leonard to make a Christmas gift box.

Here is mine, it's made from 2 sheets of 12x12 paper.

The poinsettia was cut from a template then layered.

I filled mine with beautiful ribbons and trims from Papermaze.

I will share the rest once I have completed them :)
