Milestone #2

I was also asked to make a card for a 13th at the same time - here it is:

This one is A4 in size, the base made from some A3 card I have.
Papers, I think, are DCWV and are encapsulated glitter - although its not very clear here.

I ruffled some seam binding along the side and bottom, then cut the numbers with templates and edged with black stickles.

Mulberry paper flowers were added to the bottom corner with a maribou feather,
the same theme added to the bottom of the "3"

The letters were cut with my Cricut and shadowed with black.
I didn't want to use the glitter card in the machine so used plain pink and sprayed them with Crafters Companion pink glitter.

The dots were added with black stickles and some gems used on the numbers in hot pink.
A layered butterfly was added to finish.

Check out the Scrapology website, the challenge is open until the 15th September.

Scrapology August Card Challenge - Milestones #1

Our August challenge was set by our own lovely Sandra who had a milestone of her own to celebrate this month.
I'd received a request to make a wedding card for my lovely work colleague Lauren so made the following - a wedding is a major milestone in life.

The card is an 8x8" base with a fold matt and one of embossed bazzill.
Their wedding invitation was gold, lace and pearls which inspired the design.
I cut the lace to mitre in the corner, then created the roses from the leftover bazzill - a little sprinkle of white glitter was added too.

The image is a Stamping Bella Uptown Girl which I have coloured with Copics, matted onto gold mirri too.

A few punched flowers and some pearls were added to finish the effect.

There is still time to enter, check the details on the website here.

Thanks for looking :)

Look what's coming up at Cardinal Colours Autumn Weekend Crop.

Here is a sneak peek at the classes planned by Anita, Jill, Linda and Lynn for the Autumn weekend crop. We have a Christmas card class, three layouts, a framed layout and a treasure box.

First up on Saturday morning is this layout class 'Let It All Hang Out!' by Anita Macdonald:

Anita's class uses acetate and fabulous papers from Simple Stories 'Vintage Bliss' range. Create an eye catching layout with a difference, based on a sheet of framed acetate embellished with multiple photos, paper embellishments, crystals, gems and mini clothes pegs.

The page will suit various photos, Anita has used three, they are each 2.5" square. These can be interchangeable at any point as they are simply held in place by the mini pegs.

This is followed by Lynn Cooper's Snowflake and Christmas layouts class:

A layout class to make not one but two layouts using Bazzill in four colours and papers from Bo Bunny's 'Mistletoe' collection and My Mind's Eye 'Winter Wonderland' collection.

Create a layout for winter in white, and shades of blue and one for a Christmas photo in traditional reds, whites and greens.

These layouts use several embellishments including glass, gems, twine ribbon and glitter glue.

Dig out you Christmas, winter and snow photos for this one, Lynn used a 4" wide x 6" tall photo for each page. Colour or black and white pictures would work equally well.

Glitter glue is included in your kit.

After lunch we move on to Linda Fitzsimmon's 'So Happy' Layout class:

Join Linda to create a fun layout with buttons, gems and lots of die cut and punched shapes. Suitable for all occasions, the colours are fresh and zingy.

Uses a black and white 4" x 4" photo, but will work with other sizes and colour.

In the evening have '12 Days of Christmas' Card making class with Lynn Cooper.

Create a card for each of the first five days of Christmas in class, with instructions to make others up to twelve later.

Traditional Christmas colours and 6" x 6" cards blanks and envelopes together with Bo Bunny's 'Mistletoe' 6" x 6" papers in 12 designs. Die cut images, Bazzill cardstock in several colours, tiny letter stickers, gems, pearls, ribbon, twine and more.

Start Sunday off by decorating a 'Treasure Box' in a class with Jill and Angie.

Decorate an MDF treasure box (approx. 16cm x 12cm x 6cm), using My Mind's Eye 'Lost and Found3' papers. There is a choice of Ruby (red) or Oliver (blue).

We will be making roses from cardstock colouring them with Promarkers, and embellishing the box with various charms. The box will be lined with felt.

There are only six kits of each colour, so please state your choice when booking.

Then last but not least on Sunday is Linda's framed page class 'A Little Box of Love'.

Create a framed page approx. 9" square. Lots of hearts in beautiful soft pastel shades. Perfect for the love(s) in your life. Box frame is included in the kit.

Email HERE for further details of classes, or Jill for booking onto the weekend (there is an earlier post with details on this blog. Payment can be made by cheque, bank transfer, pay pal or cash at the weekend, but booking essential to avoid disappointment. Classes are all priced at £12.50.

If you are not attending the weekend, but are interested in any of the kits, please contact us and we will keep a reserve list for any kits left over after the weekend.

We are family.

This is the 3rd layout completed at the Merly Impressions Retreat in June using Kaisercraft's
Porcelaine Rose collection.

I'm afraid I went quite off scheme on this one and used a mount of white cardstock framed with the blue.
I used the red thread to stitch a zig-zag over a paper joint and a backstitch around the white edge.

I added a line of lace too and lots of gems!

The roses are torn spiral, leaves die-cut with a memory box die.
I added a couple of paper roses and a crystal stem too.

Below is Chrissy's beautiful original,

One more to go but I've not found the right photographs to add yet - watch this space :)

Thanks again to Chrissy and team for a fab weekend.

UTEE or not UTEE?

These roses were the first I made following Hels Sheridan's tutorial.

These ones were dipped into UTEE using the metpot - which do you prefer?

I'm loving them both :)

S is for Shabby Chic - Scrapology August Challenge

This month our Scrapology Challenge was lifting a page by Sandrine Dawes, here is my version using Bo Bunny C'est La Vie papers.

Recipe:
Take the Decoupage paper and gut to 5cm from edge. Trim the white bazzill to 11” square and punch randomly on each side – distress.  Stick to Decoupage sheet adding cut lengths of lace under punched areas. Mount photo onto cream bazzill and distress the edges. Cut a piece from the leftover Decoupage paper to 7 ½” square and a piece of Panache paper to 7 ½ x 4 ½ “ and add to white bazzill at an angle with the mounted photograph.
Punch a decorative deep edge from the cream bazzill and place under the photo.  Add the pre-cut shapes of cream bazzill to the page around the photo (part of the kit contents)

Punch/die cut various flowers from the remaining paper – I followed Hels Sheridan’s rose tutorial to make mine – and add to each side. Punch some hearts and bunting. Add the bunting under the photo – I used enough to create my title which I cut from the Sizzix Cherish Alphabet. Add the hearts – I used the stripy side and added some words to pre-fix my title. Drape the thread around the bunting top adding dew drops to the joins.

Die cut some leaves to add around the flowers. Use remaining thread to dress the buttons and stick to the page along with the extra dewdrops.

The challenge is open until the 5th September, why not hop over to the Scrapology blog for more details.

Thanks for looking
