Time for a cuddle.

This page was taught by Emilie Chamel at the Merly Impressions Retreat.

We started with a sheet of white cardstock and painted two areas with Kaisercraft paint.
The paint was watered down a little then tapped over a second sheet of white to create splats.
A set of stamps was included in the kit which we used to stamp random images.

I coloured these with Promarker water colour pens.
The name was drawn and cut freehand - a technique shown to us by Emilie.

The painted areas on the other sheet were cut into feather shapes then snipped to further create the effect.
These were placed onto the page and a 4x4" photograph added.
Paper roses completed this area.

I added some pins to mine along with a few gems.
I also drew two random lines around the edge to finish.

A smaller feather was also cut and added with a flower and butterfly.
I followed Sandra's example and cut an extra butterfly to 3d on top.

This is Emilies beautiful original.

Happy Birthday Megan....

This card was inspired by Sandra Dry's class from Cardinal Colours Retreat earlier in the year.
The image is Kanban, coloured with Copics.

Papers are from some scraps I had.
The fronds are die cut, flowers punched.
The letters are from my collection, edged with black fine-liner.

The front is acetate.

I added gems to the flower centres.

Happy Birthday to my great-niece Megan :)

Scrapology July Card Challenge - Schools Out

Schools out for me meant Summer Holidays and Ice-Cream.
I made the following for my niece Cheryl's birthday.
The card is a shaped one 6x6" by CWC, papers also from a paper pad from CWC which I've had for ages.
I added a line of seam binding along the bottom.

The image is House Mouse which I have coloured with Copics.
It's mounted onto a die cut frame and surrounded with a vine die cut.

I added some cherry blossom blooms and gems to finish it off.

Check out the Scrapology Blog for details of the competition, it's open until the 15th August.

Grandparents - Another Merly layout.

The second page I made at Merly Impressions Retreat was this one.

This kit contained papers and embellishments from the Kaisercraft Miss Empire collection -Supremacy, Ancestry, Steampunk and Regent, and a pack of matching Collectables. Coffee Bean cardstock

The background was cut from two separate papers, mounted onto the brown cardstock then the join covered with an additional piece.

The frame was cut from the Steampunk paper and the photo added behind. As my photograph was an old one I had to place their heads quite high to avoid the edge showing.

Elements from the cut-outs were trimmed and used at the bottom left of the frame, along with clock faces coated with glossy accents, some paper roses and a button.

I stitched the crosses as below with black thread.

Further cut-outs, paper flowers, pearls and gems were added along with some punched fronds.

I added a frame to the bottom left corner with some tags with raffia ties.

Below is Chrissy's beautiful original.

Happiness...................

Lynn and I recently went on the Merly Impressions retreat where we were presented with some beautiful kits and classes to follow.
This is the first one I chose to do, using papers from the Kaisercraft Elegance collection.

The photograph is of Lianne at a work function which I just love.

There was a lot of cutting out and layering, I scrunched mine too, which were decorated with pearls and gems.

I layered some of the butterflies from the elements pack and stitched them together using the thread ends as antennae.

A sew easy was used to create the lines but not very straight in my case - first time I've used one.

This is Chrissy's beautiful original.

Will share more shortly

Scraplifting me!

In February this year, I entered Merly Impressions Challenge with a layout using texture paste, glimmer mists and inks. I really enjoyed playing with new mediums and was among the top acts.

We decided to lift this layout, using the Merly sketch by Emilie Chamel for out July challenge and class page - this is my version of the original which can be found here.

The greyboard was prepared with texture paste and covered with gesso.
I then used mists to spritz and blot until I was happy then created some runs too.
Splats were also added with drips - technical terms :)
Four squares of dotted Bo Bunny were placed centrally with a 4x4 photo.

I tied some spider web ribbon with a little bakers twin then knotted ribbon stuck over with a pin to hold in place. Some blooms were added up the side.

I die cut a leafy scroll with velum and tucked under some labels punch with an SU punch.
The title was hand-written.

Still time to enter the challenge which runs over at Scrapology until the 5th August.

Scrapology June Card Challenge - English Country Garden

Our lovely DT Member, Karen, set the challenge for June - to create an English country garden.

I'd had a request from work to make a 60th for Lucie's Mum so made the following.
The card is 8x8 and uses papers from my collection. I've made a lot of number cards recently and used the same templates for the numbers.

I added some paper flowers from Wild Orchid over some ruffled seam binding to create my "garden" and then some punched leaves and a few pins.
I really loved these daisy type flowers, they are so pretty.

The numbers were raised on foam tape and adorned with my trusty Martha Stewart punched Butterflies.

This is Karen's lovely card.

There is still time to enter the challenge - see details here.

Another baby.

It's baby season at work with another order for a baby card.
I'd forgotten to take a photograph but luckily Lauren had.
Made with a recent purchase of a Lili of the Valley stamp, coloured with my trusty Copics.
Papers are Kaisercraft - Marigold, I think, and some dies.
