OMG - I have an i-phone

We have been back and forth to the phone shops for the last month, trying to decide which phone to upgrade to. We were on Orange but the coverage has really done downhill recently and the phones wont work in most of the house! Soooooo, today we finally decided to defect to Vodafone (well return in my case) and went to get our phones. I had been toying with the HTC magic and was set to get it today, however, when we were comparing it to the i-phones I just caved in and had to have one!

Balloons again..

My great-niece, Megan, just loves helium balloons!
After our meal on Saturday, they came back to my house and Megan went beserk with the balloons.

Here are a few photographs of her frenzy :)

59 Years!

Mum and Dad celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary last week.

We celebrated at the local Chinese restaurant last night.

I arranged for balloons to decorate the table which looked lovely.

Even Megan joined in the Champagne toast!

We will have the run of The Chatsworth Hotel, right on the seafront at Eastbourne, from 2.00 pm Friday, 17th September through to 4.00 pm Sunday 19th September.

What an ideal time to recharge your batteries if you’ve exhausted yourself looking after children in the school holidays. All meals and refreshments are included - full English breakfasts, buffet lunch on Saturday and roast lunch on Sunday, two 3 course dinners and teas/coffees mid-morning and mid-afternoon. There will be a vegetarian option available too.

We have a full timetable of classes, with separate ones for scrapbooking and cardmaking, demonstrations and make & takes running from the Friday afternoon right through to Sunday.

The fabulous Karen Burniston will be designing a class especially for us and you can get a feel for her work on her blog here

You will have the choice of 3 classes with kits being provided and there will be raffles and games throughout the weekend too, with the Grand Raffle Prize being a Cricut Die Cutting Machine. It’s a free draw so any guest will have the chance to win this

The cost for all this is just £259 per person for a twin shared room and £289 for a single occupancy double room. We do have a limited number of small single rooms at £239 per person . We also have 3 twin rooms with an extra bed so 3 people could share at £245 per person You can reserve your place on payment of a £39 non-refundable deposit and payment terms are available. Some places have already been taken so to express an interest and find out more about the classes and teachers, please contact Jill at jill@cardinalcolours.co.uk We are really looking forward to seeing you.

Zorbing - Scrapaholix January Club kit

This months kit has beautiful paper from BoBunny.
The technique is using a template (12x12 with Swirls). I used it as a stencil with colourbox queues chalks.

These pictures were taken when we went Zorbing October 2007. I had bought Robert a zorbing experience for Christmas so we booked a long weekend in Swanage and went to ZorbSouth, just outside Dorchester, on the Saturday afternoon.

I tried to use a technique I've seen Anita use to make paper rosettes, I think perhaps a few more layers would have been better though.

I crumpled the paper, used a Heidi Swapp edge distresser to roughen the edges then inked over

Anita's Mojo

We had our crop last Saturday, a week late due to the weather.
Anita had saved me some of her class kits and below are my efforts.

I changed the design of this one and used a template (thanks Lynn) to create the circle.
Anita's gold paint dauber was used around the edges. She showed me how me make these fabulous poinsettias which I added gold card candy in the centre.
The kit included the green swirls and some buttons which I stuck on to look like berries.
The snowflakes are Bazzil strips which I tinted with colourbox queue chalks, along with the edges of the base card which is embossed bazzill.

2nd kit, featured this lovely origami tree - I was very impressed with this - thanks Anita for showing us how to make it. Embellished with card candy and glitter it makes quite an impression on the page. I think I may start making some Christmas cards early with this technique :)

Thanks again to Anita for loaning me her mojo with these kits and also to everyone at the crop, as usual, for making it such an enoyable day out! Jill - you are getting some fab new stock - I will be broke at this rate :)

More Snow!

Today, aged 40something, I made my very first snow angel!
The line through the middle is my shadow as it was taken in the dark tonight :)

Our house....

Our road........

And....what Jess thinks of it! :)

Seriously though, had a really bad day today. Stood on the platform at the station from 6.45 til 8 am waiting for the first train to come along. When it did arrive, finally, it was jam packed so I played sardines all the way into London Bridge. Then....had to stand on the bus too :(

I hate Southeastern trains, they really are a shower - how do they expect 6 train load of people per hour to get onto 2 trains? The math really does not work!

Avatar

We went to see the new movie, Avatar, on Wednesday and I sooo want to see it again already!
Had the cinema not been closing, I may well have booked a ticket for the next performance and gone straight back in. I love movies like this, sci-fi and fantasy etc but this was such an excellent epic. From the moment it began I was hooked, the special effects are spectacular and the colours are so vibrant. I would thoroughly recommend a visit to the cinema to see this film!
