Noah - Scrapology February Challenge - X is for (e)Xplosion!

Corrie Jones provided the inspiration for this months scraplift, here is my interpretation -

I started with a 12x12 sheet of bazzill and some distress stains which I swept out from the centre using a dry brush technique - 2 shades of blue. They dry quickly so I found it easier to splodge them onto a plate and paint on from there.

Once completely dry, I flicked other colours of Distress Stains onto the 4 quarters.
My photographs are from the 2010 Elephants on Parade collection and I've mounted them onto white bazzill. The main one is raised on 3d foam.

A variety of pearls, gems and buttons in coordinating colours.

I then added my title using alphabet stickers from my collection and small alphabet stickers for my journalling. I outlined all of these with a black fine-liner pen.

Getting ready for love.....

I started making some Valentine cards yesterday for sale.

I decided to keep these relatively simple, an idea based on the framed layout I taught at last years Cardinal Colours Weekend Crop.

The hearts were cut with my Cricut and the stamped message is Stampin' Up.

They are 5" square and layered with red paper and bazzil.

Let me know if you would like one :)

Scrapology January Card Challenge - Design Seeds

Scrapdolly set our card challenge this month - to use a Design Seeds Colour Palate.

I made the following:

The image is from The Flights of Fantasy CD and is coloured with copics.
I used an A4 piece of bazzill in Blue Calypso as my card base (A5) and added some Sea Breeze Bazzill and Magnolia pattered paper. Two punched holes hold the tied bow and some gems were added to the corners.

I added some stickles to the coloured image too.

When I was browsing the my CD's, I also found this image on Fabulous Shoes which is the same colourway, so, I printed the decoupage sheet onto photo paper and made this one too.

I know the purple is a little stronger than the palate but the shoe worked so well with the darker colour.

The sentiment is Lili of the Valley which was punched and mounted with SU punches.

This is the palate -

Hope over to the Scrapology Blog for details and to see our DT's wonderful creations.

Mum to be.

My lovely colleague Victoria went on Maternity leave on Friday so I made her the following card.

The image is a Kraftin' Kimmie stamp called Caroline who just happened to remind me of Victoria!
I coloured the image with my Copics then mounted it onto some shimmery lime cardstock from CWC.
The base card is also CWC and had a shaped edge. I used some papers from a Forever Friends 6x6" pad which had this cute tumbling bear down the side. The image was raised on 3d foam.
I punched two holes in the shaped edge and tied a ribbon into a bow from which I added a tag with glittery letters to say "good luck" - unfortunately the bling does not show up to well in the photograph.

Here is a close up of the lovely image from the Moonlight Whispers range.

I am entering this card into the Kraftin' Kimmie challenge Krafty Guest Contest, details of which can be found here.

Wishing you all the best Victoria - can't wait to meet your bundle of love!

Thanks for looking!

Fresh! - Scrapology January Challenge - B is for badges.

Happy New Year!

January is off to a good start with a lovely page designed by Michelle - Momma Paparazzi who's blog can be found here.

This is my take on the layout -

I turned the sketch around and used a portrait style photograph from our recent holiday.
The papers are Basic Grey's Serendipity collection together with a piece of white bazzill trimmed to 29cm square.

I cut my bunting freehand and added the year, it's secured onto some yellow twine with staples and has some bakers twine in orange/white tied on too.

I added lots of layers of papers and a flower charm tied to a wooden heart with the yellow twine and a bow.

My badge is a butterfly which was layered over some crystal pins.
A multitude of crystal gems, in various sizes, were cascaded down the page to simulate the movement of the water..

This is Michelle's beautifully colourful page along with our usual sketch.

Do check-out the Scrapology blog for more details of the challenge and our lovely DT's creations.

Thanks for looking

Scrapology December Card Challenge

This month at Scrapology, we challenge you to make a Christmas card - I am sure you have all made a few already :)

Here are mine -

The first one is 6x6". I used a new Martha Stewart PATP deep edge punch set and stamped a Woodware Christmas tree into the centre. This was mounted onto a card base of purple bazzill.
I stamped and cut out the Penny Black Fairy and coloured with Copics.
The message came with the tree stamp.
The fairy was added with 3d foam and her wings stickled.
Various gems were added the the snowflakes and tree image.

Based on the same design, I made the following for my friends at our monthly crop based on the same fairy image.
The base cards are cut from white bazzill and are 5" square. I punched a 4" square of white using the same PATP set and mounted it onto pieces of Doodlebug glittered cardstock in various shades.

The fairies were coloured to match using Copics then added with 3d foam.

I added a peel off message to the bottom corner with a gem.

More gems were added to the snowflakes on the frame.

I wasn't able to go this month as I was on holiday so the lovely Lynn took them with her - Thank-you Lynn.

The challenge is open until the 15th January so have a look at the blog post and send in yours - you never know, you may be the winner!

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Beach Babe - Scrapology December Challenge

The chosen page on Scrapology this month is a DIGI design which we felt would translate very well into paper.
Miki Krueger's design can be seen below along with our sketch.

This is my version -

I used some papers I've had for a while - MME - The Sweetest Thing - as the colours, I felt, really suited the photograph.

I started by cutting the yellow sheet to 11" square and gutted the Orange spot to fit.

My photograph(s) are just a little over 5x7" and I printed them at the same time onto an A4 piece of photographic paper.  Once the top edge was trimmed it was quite easy to slice into even, matching, strips.
I kept the coloured piece 2" so as not to disrupt the image of Lianne, then cut 1" strips either side until the edge of the photo.

Miki had "stapled" hers in place so I followed suit and did the same with the black and white strips.
The colour one was placed lower than the others and I added some Chevron paper from the same collection.

I used a sew easy freehand to get the pattern to stitch with some fibres.
I cut out other chevrons and used 3d foam to have them pointing down at her.

A few tags were stapled to the right side with letters and writing - I'm not very good at journalling so usually just add the bare minimum. Some dressed buttons were added to finish my design along with some Doodlebug letters for my title.

This is Miki's original layout and our sketch.
