Rainy Day Dunes

I love seeing all the challenges on the Basic Grey blog but rarely have the time to make a page within the deadline, so, with some time on my hands, and at the eleventh hour, I would like to enter the following into this challenge!

It was for National Scrapbooking Day 2012 and set by Kelly Purkey who said "use a photo taken with the camera on your phone.

I used my Plumeria collection pack and made the following:

I used a single sheet of paper caller floweret as below, and elements from the sticker sheets.

The title is from the alpha supplied which I have edged with black pen for definition.

The photo was taken with my iphone when we were clambering over the sand dunes at Camber Sands on our March weekend away - in the rain!

I layered the flowers on 3d foam and added all the butterflies having inked the edges.

Flat back pearls were added for bodies and a black fine-liner pen created the antennae.

Below is Kelly's inspiration page, I flipped it around and made it 12x12.

I really enjoyed making this page and actually using the sticker sheet which often gets forgotten in the pack.

Who's that cool dude?

I recently shared a page I made with one of Anita's class kits.

There was lots of hexagons left over from the sheet so I decided to make another.

I've had to cover the child face - sorry :(

I used a sheet of white bazzill for the base and cut and inked lots of hexagons.

I arranged them onto the page and raised some on foam pads.

The bunting was made in the same way as before and attached with leftover string.

The photo was mounted onto a piece of natural bazzill which I scrunched, torn and inked.

Fred's 99th

Denise asked me to make a card for her friend Fred who was 99 at the weekend.

She said his favourite thing is chocolate so I just had to make him a personalised bar!

Zero calories too!

I hadn't put a title on this page but the lyrics of the song above by Bill Withers seem to fit.

This is another layout I made at our recent retreat based on a class page by the talented Anita click on her name to see the original.

My version is not a lot different though as I fell in love with hers! :)

The papers are MME Follow your Heart - Be Amazing, previously I have blogged her other page using the pink set Be Happy.

Anyway, I chose to use these photographs taken recently at Bodium Castle, it's very rare to get nice pictures of either of us!

Below are some of the page details although this hexagon looks a little squished :(

I love all the little details she added like the string bows and baby butterflies.

This is the layout I based my Twilight on around too!

This layout was based on a page by Gabrielle P. I love her work, it's so inspirational.

The papers are BG Sweet Threads.

Unfortunately I have to cover the photo to protect their ID :(

I punched around the edge of the square with an SU border punch then scrunched it a little.

The circle was cut freehand in curves.

I added some music score behing the photo along with a stem of crystals and some Prima's from my collection.

The ribbon roses are Bo Bunny, the Lace and Crystals are Prima.

I punched the flowers then edged them with a fine-liner, the leaves are from a Marianne die which I have shaped and edged too. I created a tear which I laced and added a gem underneath.

The butterflies are from a MS punch which I borrowed from Anita - mmmm may have to invest in yet another MS punch!

I added adhesive gems to the flower centres and the butterflies to finish.

The George in Rye

During our weekend away in March, we ate at the George In Rye.

I used Little Yellow Bicycle's Paradise collection to create this double along with menu copies from the restaurant - yes I asked for the menu's! They had a lovely scroll work gate design which I loved.

I did a lot of ripping, tearing and piecing together on these layouts with the papers, menu's and also a town map.

The flowers are Prima's which I've had in my collection for a while along with some fronds from a MS punch.

Lots of inked edges and layers here.

I used the torn edges to journal around.

This is the second page.

More Prima's and a few buttons too.

If you are in the area I would recommend this restaurant, the lobster was out of this world.

Shame I forgot to take a photo of it!
