A Memory Book for Karen's Dad at 70

A while back Denise's colleague Karen asked me to make a Memory Card Book for her Dad's 70th birthday. I forgot to take photographs unfortunately but Denise took these for me.

I used two CWC 6x6" cards to create a "Z" shape and used copies of her photos.
This is the front cover, the photo is matted with some silver mirri card as is the 70.
The letters are from my stash and are white glittered. Papers are leftover from Carolyn's SU retreat that Lynn and I attended recently plus some I got from Zoe last year.

The back cover I left fairly plain so she could write her message.

This is a view from the top showing the shape.

Happy 70th Karen's Dad.

Another Royal 50th!

Keeping me busy, another request from Therese at work to make another "Royal" birthday card.
As I never repeat cards I made this version instead.
An 8x8" CWC card formed the base and was topped with papers from SU.
I printed the flags and made bunting across the top of the card on thread.
The photo's are printed from the internet.

A close up of the bunting...

I cut out and 3d'd the Queen in front of the Palace.

The inside also has bunting decoration.

What would you call Postman Pat when he retires?

Pat of course!
Sorry couldn't resist sharing a very bad joke there as it ties in with the following card.
Therese at work asked me to make a card for her postman who is retiring this month, not called Pat I don't think? Anyway, I used a 6x6" CWC card and Prima papers, Jack'n'Jill Collecton called Ode to Joy.

The image is a stamp by Faye Whittaker which I got from Joanna Sheen called postcard which seemed appropriate.
Coloured with Copics and mounted onto brown bazzill with the addition of some raffia.
Below is a close up of the image.

And a small message that comes with the stamp set.

Thanks for looking.

When I was 4 - Scrapology June Challenge - M is for Machine Stitching

This month on Scrapology we have arranged a blog hop for you, you should have arrived here from the lovely Lynn's blog, If not, please return to the Scrapology blog to begin. To take part in the blog candy hop, leave a comment, follow this blog and then proceed to the very talented Anita's blog to proceed.

Scrapology's June challenge is a sketch based on a layout by Cindy Tobey.
Our technique this month was machine stitching - a first for me on a layout, although I used to make all my own clothes so know my way around a machine :)
I used Cosmo Cricket - Pixie-Licious papers from Papermaze.
Bloomin Babies, Brownie Bands, Butterfly Kisses & Fairy Rings.

I have covered the faces with daisies to protect their identity.
The green dotty paper forms the base with a strip of the green floral and a piece of the purple dotty paper across the centre. A border was cut from the stripey paper, placed along the bottom edge and a thinner strip at the top edge.  I used the sewing machine to create a border all around the page then a zig-zag across the white border strips. The 4 was cut with my Cricut - Ashlyn's Alphabet - jewels & faux stitching added to accent. "When I was" are some small stickers from my stash. The large retro flower (top right) has a circular photo in it and is edged with faux stitching in white gel pen (the white daisy is to cover the face).
A few Pixies & a Bee were cut out and mounted on 3d foam and a few threaded buttons added to finish.

Below is a close-up of the stitching.

These are the papers

This is the sketch -

And Cindy's original layout.

Dont forget to to follow the rules to be in the draw for the blog hop candy prize which has been donated by the lovely Vanessa over at Papermaze.

I am the greatest!

Janet at work asked me to make a card for Paul who loves boxing and is a fan on Muhammad Ali.
I used a 8x8" CWC card made into an easel and a sheet of Crate paper called Bounce from the Taylor collection.
The photo was printed from the internet and mounted onto dark brown bazzill.
Ali was famous for the following catchphrase...

Float like a Butterfly....

Sting like a Bee...

My butterflies were created with 2 sizes of Martha Stewart punches, layered blue onto brown with a rolled paper body. The larger two have back antennae.

My Bees are a QK die. The base was cut twice to give a brown shadow and a yellow body, the wings cut with black cardstock.

Here is a side view.

The "stopper" for the easel is brown and blue card cut with SU punches.
The letters are from a Christmas kit I had and have been outlined in Fineliner for definition.

Hope they like it, TFL xxx

Baking today

Not only have I had a craft weekend, I have also been baking.
Today I made cupcakes for a special occasion later in the week.
Following my cupcake decorating course at the beginning of the month, I bought a new nozel which makes the rose shaped icing. These are my first attempt since then.

The icing is a lot creamier in colour, the artificial light has made it more yellow.
I also got some edible glitter dust in irridenscent..

Pink....

and Lilac....

I was quite pleased with the results and they tasted good too.

Hope the people they were made for like them too!
