James 1st Christmas - Page 2

Page 2 started in the same way with white bazzill and red bling.

I cut and decoupaged a panel of flowers from a sheet of Jovial paper and added brads to the centres as before.

The tree lights are also a Martha Stewart punch which I cut in white, coloured with Copics and a white gel pen for highlights. I added a length of Bakers Twine to the middle and eased it onto the page with glossy accents.

I finished the line with another brad.

Here they are as a double page.

Back to work on Monday so productivity will slow down again.

James' 1st Christmas - page 1

Today's is the first page of last Christmas 2011, which was James' first.

Due to the logistics of travelling etc, we were unable to get together for the day as we have so many year previously - families keep expanding! :)

My brother sent me these photographs.

I started with a sheet of white bazzill and a Martha Stewart punch anywhere snowflake punch and worked my way around the edge - hard work too!

I gutted some red bazzill bling and stuck it behind.

The patterned papers are from Basic Grey Jovial collection again and I used the letters and some elements from the sticker sheets. I added an extra photo with a paperclip (although it doesn't really show here)

These letters were black so I coloured them with a Jelly roll stardust pen then glazed with glossy accents. You can see the detail of the punch well here.

I suspended the baubles from some Bakers twine which had been wrapped around the photo panel.

They are on 3d foam and embellished with diamante and pearls.

Shopaholic at Charmed

 Our March card challenge at Scrapology was set by Karen at Charmed Cards and Crafts.

She asked us to use digi images. I had bought a set from her ages ago and never used them so this was the perfect opportunity to find them on the computer and set to!

I chose "Louise" and the boutique background, printed and cut out to fit an 8x8 CWC card.

The base paper is from Bo Bunny Vicky B range.

The image is coloured with Copic markers.

The window area looked very empty so I found my Bella stamps and stamped light images to give depth, I think it worked quite well.

The pavement was blank so I used the chisel tip of several grey copics to create a paving then highlighted areas with a fineliner.

The canopy was white so I created a candy stripe and added a line of stickles.

The card looked too plain so I used a Martha Stewart deep edge punch with brown bazzill and created a trellis down the left hand side. I threaded some blossoms and a beaded stem through and coiled the ends.

Leaves punched with a McGill punch added the foliage.

Happy Halloween!

Another first for me this year, I carved my very first pumpkin!

I googled it and found one on the Martha Stewart site which is so apt for me - just call me Martha etc :)

so had to use it.

Scrapology October Card Challenge - Eyelets

Yesterday saw the launch of the latest card challenge on Scrapology set by Sue Roberts aka Doogle007.
Hop over to Scrapology for Sue's profile and more DT cards.
Our challenge is to get the eyelets out, so lots of hammering took place at our last crop! I do have a cropodile but not a big bite to reach the centre of the page.
I used an 8x8" craftwork card blank in black and the leftovers from the paper patchwork class from the retreat to create mine. The butterflies are from a Martha Stewart punch and more scraps.

I threaded the eyelets with some suede cord from Cardinal Colours the eyelets are from there too.
Jill also stocks the Tim Holts sizzix bird cage used which I have suspended from eyelets.

The cage was decorated with Diamond Black stickles and the bird stamped with my old script stamp and enhanced with Cinnamon stickles.

New home card

Therese asked me to make a new home card before I left work.

I used an A5 card and punched the edge with a Martha Stewart deep edge punch.

The papers are from the Prima Sparkling Spring range along with some lemon bazzill.

I added a strip of patterned paper inside the card too under the lace edge.

Candi was added along the scalloped edge.

The decoupage is Jolly Nation.

I am the greatest!

Janet at work asked me to make a card for Paul who loves boxing and is a fan on Muhammad Ali.

I used a 8x8" CWC card made into an easel and a sheet of Crate paper called Bounce from the Taylor collection.

The photo was printed from the internet and mounted onto dark brown bazzill.

Ali was famous for the following catchphrase...

Float like a Butterfly....

Sting like a Bee... 

My butterflies were created with 2 sizes of Martha Stewart punches, layered blue onto brown with a rolled paper body. The larger two have back antennae.

My Bees are a QK die. The base was cut twice to give a brown shadow and a yellow body, the wings cut with black cardstock.

The "stopper" for the easel is brown and blue card cut with SU punches.

The letters are from a Christmas kit I had and have been outlined in Fineliner for definition.

Sweet Pea Stamps - Red Hearts

This is another stamp from Thats Crafty, Red Hearts designed by Ching Chou Kuik.

I used an 8x8 CWC card - this really is my favourite size at the moment.

The colours of the image made me think of BG's Scarletts Letter as below.

I used a Martha Stewart PATP leaf set and created a mount which I layered with the BG papers.

As you are restricted by size with the PATP I tied a ribbon under the image.

A close-up of the image, you can make out the dots I added as before with my white gel pen.

I created some roses with my Marianne die aswell as some leaves which I shaped and inked.

The rose centres are stickles.

I keep wanting to say this is my favourite but I love them all - just can't choose one.

I will definitely be buying more soon.

Scrapology May Challenge - V is for Vine

This month we are scraplifting Liberty Chance, you can see her blog here.

Our challenge was to make our own vines to decorate the layout.
We used some paper roses, pearl bead stems and leaves which were bound with florist tape. I started at the bottom and worked my way up the stem, leaving out some of the wires to curl up. I then dabbed the flowers with ink to tint them and added stickles for some sparkle. Lynn found a tutorial on the web for doing this - see here

The papers are from the new Prima Sparkling Spring range, Berry Fresh, Pink Apron and Rosebud with a base of White bazzill cardstock - all available from Cardinal Colours. I used a Martha Stewart deep edge punch to create the lace border. The title was cut with Teardrop Cricut cartridge. The journalling blocks are torn, drawn freehand and punched. The butterflies are from the reverse side of one of the papers. I added some small letter stickers which Lynn gave me.

I really loved the fresh colours of the original page.

Happy 21st Jim!

Our final project from Carolyn's on day SU retreat was to make a mini album based on a design by Andrea Walford.

Although we cut all the papers to decorate the album with, it was left for us to complete at home.

My friend Denise asked me to make a card incorporating lots of photographs for her son Jim's 21st so I decided to use the blank for this. The overall size is 6x6".

The Springtime Vintage was too floral and girly for a male, so I used a different collection of papers, still SU, called Sweet Pea which I got from Zoe (Mrs Wonka) last year.

I kept the front cover simple by using cardstock punched with a Martha Stewart PATP and just adding a line of glitter (silver) and a button.

The album opens like a maze and has many pages which I have shown below:

The inside opens the other way so I fixed down the bottom flap with double sided tape and stitched a button on. The top flap has a ribbon fixed behind the photograph which fastens around the button.

Inside I added some tags with the remainder of the photos.

This is the card I made from me.

A 6x6 CWC card using the same papers as before.

The letters and numbers were cut with the Teardrop Cricut cartridge.

I used distress stickles to highlight and give dimension.
