It makes me happy..

We have spent time over the last two weekends in Brighton. I don’t know why, but as soon as I get there I smile :)

Our first jaunt followed a visit to the Glitterpot on the Saturday 14th. I enjoyed some retail therapy at the shop before continuing our journey on to the coast. Driving in, I did have a feeling of doom seeing the signs announcing the Brighton Festival was on – the worry of nowhere to park and crowded areas is not conducive to a good day out! My fears were unfounded though as we parked without issue in the Regency Square car park and headed into a local restaurant for lunch (albeit rather late) of Lobster for me, fish and chips for Robert.

We then strolled along the seafront browsing in the many little shops in the arches under the boardwalk, in particular that of my favourite artist Daniel Laurence. We have five of his pictures at home mainly featuring fish swimming in deep blue ocean – remind me to share these another time. Why not pop over to his website and take a peek at his fabulous designs. Down at the shore line I took some photographs of the waves coming in, and ran from one which came a bit too fast and high.

Next was the pier which always reminds me of my teen years when Robert (yes I did know him back then!) and two other friends took a train down for the day, we had a lovely day with beautiful weather and wandered around in our bikinis and shirts – well Jenny & I did - got sunburnt on the backs of my legs so badly that I couldn’t sit down on the return journey! Back to the present though, I asked Robert to take me on the Ghost train lol! It was actually quite good with a high coil upwards, a dippy whooshy bit – technical term, you understand – then some really bad tableaux and stringy bits which tickled your face.

The lanes were our next stop but by this time of the day the shops had already closed :(

Then, back to the car for the journey home – still with a smile on my face I might add.

Happy Birthday Lynn..............

Today is Lynn's birthday! Happy Birthday Lynn!

This is the card I made for her the image is  by the lovely S-J creator of

 Little Musings and is from the Sew Vintage collection.

I printed, cut out and coloured the sewing machine with Copics then mounted onto a DL card which I had covered with dotty paper.

The original image had thread running through the machine but the lines were too thin to cut out so I used some DMC and threaded it myself.

I added some fabric ready to be sewn..

And of course no sewing table would be complete without a pin cushion.

Lace & Pearls

This weeks challenge on the Sweet Pea Stampers blog is Lace and Pearls.

This stamp is another newly purchased stamp Amanita Muscaria by Rachel Anderson for Sweet Pea Stamps.

I used an 8x8 card and matted a piece of floral cardstock onto brown bazzill.

I edged the floral paper with lace then added pearls onto each corner.

A close-up of the the lace and pearls plus liquid pearls on the toadstool.

I ruffled some ribbon from my stash down one side and added a ribbon rose made from the same fabric.

A close up of the image, coloured with copics below.

The wings were glazed with Glossy Accents.

I used Vintage photo distress ink around the edges which gave a misty effect to the image.

I'm excited to announce that I won a challenge!

I don't enter many challenges as I am "challenged" for time but recently entered this card for one on 

Sweet Pea Stampers site. The image is by Ching-Chou Kuik which is a Sweet Pea Stamp.

I was so delighted to find out that I had won (she says jumping up and down with excitement) as its my first challenge win ever!

My prize is from The Crafty Purple Frog who sell decoupage and pyramage images by this artist, why not hop on over and take a peek?

Sweet Pea Stamps - Royal Flower - Scrapology May Card Challenge

This is the second card I made for the May Card Challenge as set by Zoe Pierson.

The image is another Sweet Pea Stamp called Royal Flower by Caron Vinson - Thats Crafty.

I have been making cards with Caron's decoupage sheets for years and really love her images and artwork so when I saw stamps for sale, they just had to fall into my basket!

Coloured with Copic's again, this image was cut with my other new set of Nestabilites from Cardinal Colours. The papers are from my stash, I think the butterfly papers are Prima's Jack'n'Jill range.

I added some lace to create borders top and bottom then cut and mounted some extra butterflies.

The message is from SU, available from Zoe.

The card is A5 landscape and below is a close-up of the image.

Again I used the white gel pen to highlight and a Sakura gelly glitter pen on the hair and wings.

May Card Challenge on Scrapology - Zoe Pierson

This months card challenge was launched yesterday on Scrapology sponsored by our lovely Zoe Pierson.

Zoe designs for many magazines and also is a Stampin' Up Demonstrator, see her blog here.

My card is A5 made from SU cardstock and decorated with SU papers from the new range Springtime Vintage. The image is also SU from the Crazy for Cupcakes range. It was coloured with Copic Ciao pens and a little stickles and glossy accents used to highlight. The ribbon is from their binding range and was layered over double sided tape to ruffle it.

The message is from SU too - in fact, it mostly is :)
