My Friend Lorraine Wheeler and I worked for many a season at the fair and worked lastly for ther Gee family who ran the Candy Floss stalls in the fair, I worked there on the day of the accident, so sad. I remember the Park and the funfair it was great. I am a Grandmother now, and often recall the stories of my life in Battersea to my children and Grandchildren, I can't believe where the time has gone! Good luck with the scrapbook Jean Barber nee PotterAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12105196602808166782noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2811709642939511697.post-32434866324423153832014-09-24T08:08:04.016+01:002014-09-24T08:08:04.016+01:00I came across your website by accident. I think I went on every ride there and remember them so well. You are correct about Billy Smarts Circus on Clapham Common. They used to come once a year and we normally went. I can still see the big top in my mind - it was dark blue with orange "hoops " around the entrance. The big thing for me was seeing the lions - we seemed so close to them and only protected from them by a makeshift circular cage.DaveLnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2811709642939511697.post-80690571238617948622014-08-20T16:12:28.649+01:002014-08-20T16:12:28.649+01:00hello Linda-thank you for these amazing photos,bri...hello Linda-thank you for these amazing photos, bringing back childhood memories of the Tree Walk and Funfair in Battersea Park!I went there on a Sunday with my father when I was a little girl.I was not allowed to go into the funfair, but loved the Grotto with its perfume and fake volcano!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2811709642939511697.post-41355975226495284592012-08-08T01:19:01.349+01:002012-08-08T01:19:01.349+01:00I recall that funfair at Battersea from the tree w...I recall that funfair at Battersea from the tree walk and the helter skelter.
I asked mum and dad for years where they'd taken me with the tree walk as a kid, but they couldn't remember. Only a couple of years ago mum remembered it.
If I remember rightly, the helter skelter was very tall and ended inside on a big mat somehow, but I'm willing to be corrected.
Thanks for displaying the pictures though, a great trip down memory lane.
There were things hidden in the trees too, weren't there ?

Jim SewellJim Sewellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10817200215213184982noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2811709642939511697.post-37144063779320299792012-02-25T16:15:01.789+00:002012-02-25T16:15:01.789+00:00what wonderful memories Linda and super pics.
